UNI VERSE

Two weeks ago I got the idea to share a small amount of writing about a picture each day as a way of sharing with people for free while I worked on a bigger project. Once I began on the first picture I saw this quote on my wall that gave me the idea to try to write about it at least ten times in ten different ways over the course of ten days. To be honest, I wrote the first one, #1: 334, the Sunday before last, and I finished yesterday, making it 12 writing posts through 11 days. I wrote a new one each day with no prior preparation other than all the writing prep I'd been doing for years anyway. I just sorted through the files in my mind after looking at the signs each morning/afternoon, and I'd find myself figuring out who I was as I played a real life version of connect the dots. Anyway, I think it's actually just long enough to be a book. Not a long full length novel. I don't even know what you would call it. It's different alright. It is whatever I felt like it should be at the time. It might have been helpful to have an editor, but I at least got some positive feedback along the way which gave me the motivation to continue.  Here they are in order:

12: Stories

They vary in length between 224 words and well over 7,000. If you're interested, take the time. I recommend 1 per day.

If you have read any of these or do read any of these, I am really truly very ecstatically happy that you not only used your time and awareness to concentrate on something very important to me that I am very fortunate to have been able to create, but I will be even happier that you are taking an interest in something new, different, and strange, yet possibly pleasurable.

I'm serious about getting back to a book I originally outlined and drafted once, so I've got to shift my focus and work on that in private, but these intertwining stories are up there for anyone who dares :)

Also, today is World Book Day, which I learned from a Facebook news feed post this morning as I put the finishing touches on the last entry.

"DO IT as well as you possibly can.
You will get an enormous reward.
You will have created something."
-Kurt Vonnegut

"If you're willing to take chances,
risk ridicule,
and push the envelope,
and if you've managed to hold on
to your imagination
(the single most important quality,
even slightly more important
than an itchy curiosity
and a sense of humor),
then you can dissolve any so-called block by
imagining extraordinary
 heretofore unthinkable solutions,
 and/or by playing around uninhibitedly
with language

 There has to be poetry
and magic

At every level

“And art,
like love,
is what makes the world
forever fresh and new”

 - Tom Robbins
"The world is a map of our love."
- Henry Miller
