I was driving home one weekend in early June when I got stuck in gridlock and then noticed that my temperature gauge was signaling that the engine was about to overheat. I had to pull over, let it cool down, and then drive home in 85 degree weather with the heat blasting so that it wouldn't happen again.
That same day I got an e-mail from my aunt offering to give me her old car because she was moving to North Carolina.
In late August I realized I had one more weekend to go on an adventure with the beloved vehicle which had seen me through two journeys to Bonnaroo, a coast to coast adventure around national parks and 14,000 miles of the US, and then a journey back. I decided there was one place that I'd always wanted to visit that would be a perfect sendoff for my companion before I took it home the next weekend.
I only had to drive about a 100 minutes to get there...
