2016

I look forward to a new year, and the best for you

Happy New Year!

I just posted a photo story of 2016.

Should you like to view it from the beginning, it starts with "A Year Ago" in December 2016 in the archive on the right side of this page

I wish you a better 2017, however 2016 treated you or your world view

After work, a couple blocks from work, during the third debate
A few weeks later, an hour after the unthinkable started becoming true
After work, I watched the results on the street here for about half an hour

There were a few of us gathered there, and I recall a middle-aged black woman and her adult daughter truly puzzled that someone like that could be leading in so many places.  I tried to give some comfort by pointing out that certain cities hadn't been counted yet in certain states, but I knew it wasn't looking good.  One guy passed by and said it didn't matter anyway because the Earth was screwed on account of the climate.  A few middle-aged white women were watching with their hands over their mouths.

The young black woman said, "I ain't bein' a slave again.  Fuck that."  I know she didn't mean it literally, but I understood.  So many different people were very legitimately feeling incredibly upset and confused for so many serious reasons.  I hope the Democrats put up their best fight when they come up against the Attorney General confirmation for "I liked the KKK until I heard they smoked pot" Jeff Sessions.  The KKK lynched 8,000 human beings.  If I were one of those women, I would have thrown something at the screen
